A traditional hotel (built in the 1930s), facing a huge sandy beach on the Pentire headland (National Trust). This 'splendid' setting - with sheltered coves, surf, rock pools and caves - makes it ideal for a family holiday.

Crantock Bay Hotel were flattered when we were chosen by Eddie Enfield as the first venue to feature in a new ‘Out and About’ series in their very well read publication – The Oldie Magazine.

Eddie chose to travel to Cornwall by train and quoted below are just some of his comments about his stay with us, which we thought you might appreciate us sharing with you:

I can’t recommend this hotel enough for a family stay on the coast. We stayed there last month and the kids absolutely loved it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and there was heaps to do both in the resort and in the surrounding area. A real highlight was the beach just beside the hotel, you sometimes forget how nice the coast is so close to home! We will definitely be returning in the near future

My husband and I, two children and two Grandparents stayed at the Crantock Bay Hotel. It is a family run Hotel ,very friendly and warm. The location, right on top of the cliffs overlooking Crantock beach, is one of the best sea viewsyou could ever wish for. Our rooms faced the sea, spectacular!
The kids enjoyed the heated indoor pool, but not much else going on for them. That was fine by us, as the walks, scenery ,beaches and fresh air were the reason we went and they are first class!
The room was clean and comfortable.
The food at the hotel was out of this world. There was a varied choice at breakfast, cereals, fruit, poached fish, full english. nothing was too much for the staff.
The evening meal was superb! Not a chip in sight! The menu was varied and always to a high standard. 4 courses each night and the service was great. All in all a real treat! I have no hesitation recommending this hotel and we will be returning.

Elegant deserts

Lovely Scottish Salmon
In April of 2009 I flew from California to attend a Painting Break with Judi Whitton at the Crantock Bay Hotel in Cornwall. The room and full board was included in the price of the workshop tuition for six nights. This turned out to be a truly exceptional value, as the five course evening meals alone were in the four star category.
While the hotel's room are modest in appointment, they are all very clean and have en suite facilities. The staff in the front as well as the waitstaff were exceptional and friendly and personal. They even sent a private taxi to meet my train down from London which was included in the price of the package. Could can hardly find a better value in this part of the country. Bravo

We have just stayed at this hotel over the February half-term. I would like to recommend it to anyone looking for a family holiday. The decor may not be the most modern but the location, food and welcome by the owners, made up for this many times.
It over-looks a truely magnificent bay with easy access to the beach (5 minutes walk)even for the youngest of children. The indoor pool is warm and clean with a jacuzzi over-looking the pool and for those with a bit more energy a gym next door! The Spa treatments we experienced were very relaxing. The food was exceptional and both children and adults well entertained with 'Smartie Parties', Table-tennis and Billiards tournaments for those that wished to join in. All in all a great stay and we will be back for more!

We haven't had a holiday in Cornwall since our respective childhood days and the Crantock Bay Hotel was recommended to us by friends of ours… we can now certainly see why!

First of all - the views will take your breath away! (Un-interupted sea views, with the beach at the bottom of the hotel's garden .. it took about 5 minutes for us to walk down to the beach with an 'easy clamber' down the rocks at the end of the path onto the beach itself - our 2 children 4 yrs & 7 yrs managed this easily!)

The family run hotel, seems to be really 'in tune' with what family holidays are all about. Activities for all, with facilities to 'chill' for all too! There is a playroom, equipped with toys for all young children, plus a table tennis table ... which we used extensively, as we happily hooked up with another couple of families whom we met staying there and thus, had many a fun evening playing 'round the table'!

Our children spent hours in the hotel swimming pool, which enabled my husband and I to take turns to watch them, whilst the other either had (incredible treatments) in the Spa or time in the gym or simply 'time out' to read and enjoy the breathtaking views from the lounge!

Tea time for the children was around 5.30pm each evening, with a great range of freshly cooked meals (which we ordered in the morning, before we headed out for the day). All the children in the hotel, sat around one large table, which was great fun for them all, as well as the adults, (taking the pressure off 'distracting them to eat'!!!)

Our first night was Valentines. The evening was perfect. There was a dinner / dance with a 5 course meal and dancing. The children also had a great time, as there was a 'party entertainer' who looked after them ALL until we took them to bed ... I think the older children were there until 11pm! A wonderful and relaxing romantic evening, with delicious food, and the happy knowledge that our children were having fun and were safely cared for!

The hotel certainly made sure the children had a great time, as there was a 'Smarty Party' one day and on another, a very exciting Treasure Hunt (which took us all around the headland, ending up in a cave on the beach to find the treasure buried in the sand at the back of the cave - great fun!!!) And on a couple of evenings there was a table tennis competition and a billiard competition. Needless to say, we were never bored!

Finally, we cannot fault the food at the Crantock Bay Hotel - the dinners are especially delicious, with a tempting range of menu each evening (4 courses). stunningly presented ... the chef should win an award! (you may need to go to your gym when you get home, as the food is too good to resist!)

All in all - the best value for money family holiday we've experienced in the UK. The children came home wanting to return immediately & my husband and I returned fully relaxed, so we couldn't recommend the hotel highly enough!
